Beating Migraine Pain

March 7th, 2012
Elle Nash asked:

I wanted to talk to you about beating migraine pain. If you’ve never experienced a migraine than you really don’t understand what the pain is like. The best way to describe is that it is crippling. When you have a regular headache, you can still do things, but when you have a migraine you have to lie down or you’re going to collapse. It hurts really badly. People travel the country looking for solutions from anyone that will offer it to them. Most of the things are snake oil, but there are some specific and free things you can do to ease the pain. I’m going to talk to you about beating migraine pain. There is one specific thing you should pick up about your migraine and that it has symptoms that happen before hand. Just like you can feel it in your bones that you’re going to get sick soon, you can feel when a migraine will be coming. At this point you have to act immediately. Go lie down before the migraine arrives. I’ve found when I’ve done this that the migraine is much less intense and often much shorter. Anything to limit the migraine is a good thing in my book. Another tip for beating migraine pain is simply pinching where your nose meets the forehead. You have to do this before the migraine arrives. I find it releases a lot of the pressure from your sinuses. Surprisingly simple pressure like this can bring on a migraine and giving your nose a pinch is really a simple thing to do to prevent it.

Migraine – A Four Part Experience

March 1st, 2012
Elizabeth Dennis asked:

Migraine is more than a headache; it is a full-blown experience complete with four stages. If you are prone to “classic” migraines, those with aura, you are likely to experience all four stages. If you are a “common” migraine sufferer, you too go through the four stages, though you may not be aware of them.

Prodrome

This first phase can begin one to two days prior to the actual migraine headache. Feelings during this stage vary greatly depending upon the individual. You may feel happier and more relaxed than normal or you may have a sudden burst of energy. On the flip side, your head may begin to ache and you may be tired, weak and irritable. Recognizing your prodrome signs is the first step toward warding off the migraine.

Aura

If you are prone to common migraine you will skip this step. Aura is associated with classic migraine and begins anywhere from ten minutes to one hour before the headache hits. Auras are visual disturbances often described as an arched and flashing zig-zag. Auras can also cause objects to have bright halos around them. When the aura fades away is when the pain begins.

Headache

The headache phase can last from three to seventy-two hours. The throbbing pain is most often one-sided. Upset stomach, nausea, and vomiting are common during this phase as is sensitivity to light, sound and smell.

Postdrome

Following the headache, you may feel “hung over.” This feeling is associated with the postdrome stage. You may feel wiped out and unable to think clearly. Your head may be sore along with your neck and stomach. Your eyes may continue to be sensitive to light. This stage typically lasts 24-36 hours; improving gradually.

Migraine Surgery, Do You Really Need It?

February 22nd, 2012
Josh Goodall asked:

The pain the migraine sufferers take is unspeakable, it is said only the people who share the pain understand the severe pain when it comes.

There are around 10% of the whole population who have been troubled by migraine headache attacks during certain age of their life. Most of the migraine sufferers are women. We have seen quite some characters on sitcoms who claims they have a migraine and need a rest. It is so hard for most men to understand the pain, some migraine sufferers have to bear the name “drama queen”. That is so unfair.

Maybe that is why there are so many people seeking the cure of the migraine. Unlike other chronic disease, migraine usually happened during a certain age (most happened to those who aged 20 to 50), there are fewer sufferers who are over 50 still worried about the pain.

If you are 30 something, the last thing you would expect is letting the migraine standing in your career path. That is quite a strong reason for people coming to their doctor for the migraine surgery.

Scientific research did show there are trigger areas where the alleged sensory nerves exist. The irritation of those nerves could lead to migraine headache attack. So the migraine surgery is usually targeted to remove the

We call it a headache when we have a pain in the head, but the trigger area is not located in the brain. The sensory nerves exist in 4 different parts under your face skin. That is why some migraine sufferer like to talk about the magical case happening to an unknown person.

We did see some case when the patient claimed that after a brow lift or facial operation, the migraine attack becomes less common, which gave the doctor the hint to find the trigger site.

But, do you really need a migraine surgery. As we have mentioned, fewer people suffered the pain when they are over 50. The migraine natural cure methods work well in preventing the migraine on a daily basis. When necessary there are also the migraine meds coming to help.

There are not enough cases of migraine surgery to give a clear answer whether it helps easing the pain effectively. We still do not know whether the claimed disappearance of the migraine is temporary, and there are some side effects after the surgery.

You should really think twice about your life and career before you made the decision to take the migraine surgery. Your doctor will provides you with more detailed information about the surgery.
